I have a lot of space in my room and on my walls in my bedroom, any suggestions on how to decorate it?
I recently moved into a new apartment and my bedroom is very large, about 18 feet by 12 feet. This is large as in the years past when I was in college, I either had a roommate or lived in a small dorm room, thus never had a ordeal where I had this much open space to us.
The problem is that I have a lot of space in my room and on my walls and don’t know what to do with it, and would like suggestions for some unique ideas of what to do. I am working with a budget of about $300 for this and would really like to have my room feeling comfortable and cozy. I don’t want to do the regular bunch of posters thing either.
Currently I have a small computer desk, a small TV stand with a 25″ TV, a Full Size Bed w/ frame, and a small dresser.
Any help and suggestions is much well appreciated; thank you!!
1] furniture –
a] consider adding a nightstand or table. If a table, add a cloth over it to match or coordinate colors in bedding.
b] a hope chest or blanket chest to store extra linens or off season clothing, could go at foot of bed, or against window as a ‘seat’
2] buy/make a floral wreath in room’s colors
3] frame [ get cheap ones at Ross, Marshall's, etc. ] a bunch of family photos for one wall, friends for a second, and vacation snaps for a third [ this also looks nice in hallways, or over sofas ]
4] framed posters can look great – they have sales on dif poster sites
5] make a shadow box of fav small items/collections
6] search decor sites for sale/cearance/dicontinued wall decor – paintings, mirrors, grilles, plaques, etc.
7] also search thrift stores, Salvation Army, etc.
8] don’t forget your mom’s/grandmom’s attic!
Suggestions:
a] get art with the rooms colors in it, and similar themes:
sunsets
flowers
waterscapes, etc.
b] frame all pieces in same metal or wood throughout apartment, so you can re-arrange if you want to.
